Timeless ideas and insights for life. (Read the archives)
At FS, we’re committed to helping you live a healthier life, and with that in mind, I’m excited to share that acclaimed chef Marysol Foucault is joining our small team in the fall to explore the connection between what we eat and our physical and mental performance.
If you’re like me, you’re trying to live a “healthy” lifestyle. I mostly avoid junk, exercise, and read labels enough to be scared by what I see. Under a new brand, we’ll explore the gut-brain connection and the impact of certain ingredients and additives on our health and performance. We’ll start by developing and sharing a series of recipes that are healthy, delicious, and practical. Stay tuned for more.
“Real love is accepting other people the way they are without trying to change them.”

Two Tiny Thoughts this week.
Vacation won’t make things better. Changing jobs won’t make things better. Getting the recognition you deserve won’t make things better. Drugs won’t make things better.
The only thing that will make things better is your relationship with yourself.
The very best don’t have to turn it on. It’s always on. They have to turn it off.
I sat down with Kevin Kelly to discuss the importance of learning from those you disagree with, the power of deadlines, the importance of kindness, Artificial Intelligence, and so much more.
“If your views on other things can be predicted from your views on one thing, you need to be very careful that you’re not in the grip of an ideologue.”
J.K. Rowling on taking over:
“There is an expiry date on blaming your parents for steering you in the wrong direction; the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you.”
The best intentions, the worst results:
“The issues facing San Francisco aren’t from a lack of funding. In 2021 alone, the city allocated $1.1 billion to its Department of Homelessness, and its budget has risen 500% since 2016. The results: Homelessness actually increased 64% during the same period. Where does all this money go?”
P.S. This is what perfect timing looks like.
P.P.S. These LMNT hydration packs have totally replaced every other type of electrolyte I used to use. (*not sponsored or an affiliate link, just a huge fan).
