Shane Parrish is the founder, curator and wisdom seeker behind Farnam Street.

The Farnam Street Blog is an intellectual hub of curated interestingness that examines topics such as human misjudgment, decision‐making, strategy, mental models and combinatorial creativity. Farnam Street exposes its audience to a collection of big ideas from multiple disciplines, adding tools to their problem-solving toolbox to improve decision‐making. Shane’s goal is to help you discover new interests and connections across disciplines.

The initial idea behind Farnam Street was born out of Shane’s frustration with his MBA program. Shane would recall “sitting in class one day, listening to the professor discuss the solution to a case we were reviewing. The solution fit the textbook perfectly, but it had obvious gaps that a little bit of knowledge from other disciplines would have exposed. I knew something was missing and realized I wasn’t going to get that in my MBA. So I started Farnam Street to keep track of my learning and connect it to a mental framework.” Farnam Street soon grew into one of the most popular blogs in the world with over 1 million pageviews and over 100,000 subscribers.

Just as investors or owners traditionally exchange money for shares in a company, Shane thinks that the investment his audience makes in Farnam Street is just as important. His audience trusts him with something more valuable than money – their time. For all of us, time is finite and reading Farnam Street means that you’re not doing something else. Shane’s objective is to make sure your investment is getting an above average return.

Shane created, developed and manages a team to deliver a suite of Farnam Street Re:Think Workshops. To date, these workshops have consistently been sold out, and the diversity of attendees ranges from Harvard Business School professors, to multi-million dollar software companies, prosperous private investors, corporate retail designers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, students, etc.

The Knowledge Project, Shane’s successful podcast launched in 2015, allows him to interview key luminaries from across the globe to gain insights into how they think, live, and connect ideas. Episodes have been downloaded over 350,000 times on iTunes.

Shane has been invited to speak at various international conferences and events both to large and small private groups, including Bradley University, Annaly, TOPS Campfire, Pender Investment Conference, and Santagnel’s Investor Forum.

As a trusted advisor, Shane’s work has helped Governments, investors, Fortune 100 CEOs, Championship NFL teams, and military leaders improve their strategies, decisions, and performance. His work has helped people defend proxy contests, take over companies, make policy decisions with long-ranging implications, hire better, retain talent, and compete in crowded markets.
